She was born and brought up in Istanbul in the year 1978. She spent her childhood sewing clothes for her baby dolls. Even at that age, the spirit of her creativity was noticed by the family members and the people around her. Turkey's only 'Haute couture' education in Beyoğlu, would open the door to her dreams. The year she was enrolled in school, she attended a fashion show with her mother where she met Turkish fashion designer guru Mualla Özbek's daughter, Canan Yaka. While attending fashion school, she started the internship at Canan Yaka's atelier, which Ms. Canan called 'our family'. She was fascinated by Ms. Canan at first sight. She worked with her for five years, the first two of which were her internship years. With the experience she received from the Yaka Family, she opened her own fashion house in Yeşilköy. She continued creating and designing dresses, wedding dresses, and suits.

In 2004, she crossed paths with Jale Gürcan, one of the well-known names in the underwear business. Since then, Ms. Gürcan made all the collections of women's underwear brands 'Pierre Cardin Lingerie' and 'Jale Lingerie'. She was also the style consultant of Pierre Cardin's fashion shoots for 16 years.

While doing all this, the designer realized another dream of her founding underwear brand 'Harika Yavuz' in 2012. Harika Yavuz is happy to bring you the original designs, which has created with the knowledge she has gained in her creative journey.
